Youth Education
If you are in a crisis and need someone to talk to, call:
1-800-273-TALK
You also can find someone in your area who is willing to listen and can help: Tri-County MHMRS Educating everyone about what these cards mean and what to do if one is presented to you. It is a very important part of the program's success and its ability to save lives.
While this project was formed to prevent youth suicide, the reality is that it's as effective in the prevention of adult suicide. Just like learning CPR can save a life, BE-A-LINK!® can save one too! And when you BE-A-LINK!® to the person in crisis, you become a Friend for Life.
It was long thought that training the lay person about CPR would further endanger lives. It is now known that any person trained in CPR can save lives. They are the life saving LINK between the person in a medical crisis and the medical professionals. The stigma of the "S" word brings fear to everyone and the thought of educating the everyday person to handle a situation of crisis brings panic. Actually, education can save lives. The Friends for Life program does not expect or even encourage everyone to become a counselor but simply the LINK between the person in crisis and someone who can help. Yellow Ribbon BE-A-LINK!® Card
