Parent and Community Education

Educating the entire community about what these cards mean and what to do if one is presented to you is a very important part of the programs success and its ability to save the lives of Children. While this project was formed to prevent suicide in youth, it has been found to be as effective in the prevention of adult suicide.

Just like learning CPR can save a life, BE-A-LINK!® can save one too!

And when you BE-A-LINK!® to the person in crisis, you become a Friend for Life.

It was long thought that training the lay person about CPR would further endanger lives. It is now known that any person trained in CPR can save lives. They are the life saving LINK between the person in a medical crisis and the medical professionals.

The stigma of the "S" word brings fear to everyone and the thought of educating the everyday person to handle a situation of crisis brings panic. The reality is that education can save lives. Friends for Life does not expect or even encourage volunteers to become a counselor but simply the LINK between the person in crisis and the people and professionals who can help.

Educational BE-A-LINK!® workshops are offered to private and public schools, law enforcement agencies, daycare centers, community and civic groups, faith-based organizations, parents and PTAs, free of charge.
